Syed Khairul Islam
Mr. Islam is a senior associate of CBSG. He is highly competent in both conventional and qualitative research methodologies. He has advanced training on research and monitoring. His professional background includes livelihood development, entrepreneurship, training need assessment (TNA), gender, empowerment, and human rights. He has been involved in the implementation and evaluation of a large number of livelihood projects. In his professional carrier of 32 years he has worked in key positions for ILO, UNICEF, World Bank, EC, CIDA, KfW, GTZ, DANIDA, Oxfam, Water partner International, Practical Action UK, Save the Children UK, etc. He was involved in more than two dozens of research studies/projects as team leader, deputy team leader and team member for reputed national and international organizations.He has worked in India, China and Sri Lanka for professional consultancy services.
Narayan Kumar Bhowmick
Mr. Bhowmick is the senior training specialist of CBSG. He has a BSS (honours) and MSS in Sociology from the University of Rajshahi. He also received professional training from local and international institutes on training facilitation, presentation skills, leadership and team building. He has over 16 years of professional experience on Training & Capacity Building of different stakeholders such as, LGI representatives, GO, NGO and CBO Officials on Management, ToT, Human Rights and Governance, and Gender. He has prepared many training modules and resource materials on various topics and training programms. He has worked at NGO Forum for Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation as Tranning Head for a long period.
Professor S. R. Howlader, Ph.D
Dr. Sushil Ranjan Howlader is an advisor of CBSG in research and survey area. He is a Professor of the Department of Economics (on leave) and the Institute of Health Economics, Dhaka University, Dhaka. He is the founder Director of the Institute of Health Economics within Dhaka University and worked in that capacity from 1998 to 2005. He is also the former Director of the Bureau of Economic Research, Dhaka University. Dr. Howlader obtained his B. A. (Hons.) and M. A. degrees in Economics in 1971 and 1972 respectively from the University of Dhaka. He has carried out his doctoral study as a Winrock scholar on Development Economics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, in 1993, Over the past 30 years, Dr. Howlader has been involved in various research projects for the planning commission of GoB & different donor agencies like USAID/Dhaka, The Rockefeller Foundation, CIDA, The Asia Foundation, NORAD, URC, CARE, Management Sciences for Health (Boston), and The Futures Group International (USA), World Bank, Dhaka & Health Economics Unit of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Bangladesh Government, UNFPA, WHO, and DFID (Dhaka).
Md. Lutfor Rahman Chowdhury
Mr. Lutfor Rahman Chowdhury served in the Government for more than 30 years and retired as Secretary to the GoB. He has wide experience with the policy development of the public sector. He was involved with the formulation of the health, nutrition and population sector program (HNPSP). He was also involved with the policy formulation in connection with the health and population sector in IPRSP and PRSP.As Joint Secretary, he served with the local government division and was responsible for the water and sanitation sector in the ministry. He oversees the policy formulation of WASH sector and program operation of DPHE and WASAs. He also served as a member of the DWASA board. After retirement, Mr. Chowdhury worked with UNICEF and Save the Children - USA on an intermittent basis. He got his masters from Dhaka University and post graduation from the Netherlands.
Dr. Mohsin Uddin Ahmed
Dr. Mohsin Uddin Ahmed, MBBS, DCM, MPH is a medial professional with focus in public health and nutrition. He has completed his MPH from UK. He has extensive experience in working with the health service system in Bangladesh. He has worked with some renowned organizations in Bangladesh like ICDDR-B, Red Crescent etc. as operation researchers and public health specialist. Nutrition has been a key area of his work. He has also done significant work in the area of reproductive health.
